How to play Sprintle
Sprintle is a live multiplayer word race. Every player in the room gets the same secret 5-letter word, and the fastest correct solver wins the round. If you have played Wordle, you already know the guessing rules; the racing is where it gets fun.
The guessing rules
You have 6 tries to find a 5-letter word. After each guess, the tiles show how close you are:
- A Green: right letter, right spot.
- A Yellow: the letter is in the word, but somewhere else.
- A Gray: the letter is not in the word.
Example: if the answer is STORM and you guess SHIRT, the S is placed, the R and T are in the word elsewhere, and H and I are out.
Duplicate letters follow real Wordle rules: greens are matched first, then yellows are awarded only while the answer still has that letter left.
The race
- Everyone solves the same word at the same time. Rounds have a 3-minute timer by default (the host can change or remove it).
- You see your rivals' boards as colors only, never letters, so nothing is ever spoiled.
- The moment someone solves, a 60-second finish clock starts for everyone else. Solve before it runs out to keep your rank.
- A match is several rounds; points carry across all of them.
- After a race you can share a spoiler-free result card: your rank, time and colors, never the answer.
Scoring
| Result | Points |
| 1st to solve | 100 points |
| 2nd to solve | 80 points |
| 3rd to solve | 65 points |
| 4th to solve | 55 points |
| 5th to solve | 50 points |
| 6th to solve | 45 points |
| 7th to solve | 40 points |
| 8th to solve | 36 points |
| 9th to solve | 32 points |
| 10th to solve | 28 points |
| Each unused guess row | +10 points |
| Guessed but did not solve | 5 points |
So speed sets your rank, and efficiency pads it: solving in 3 guesses leaves 3 unused rows worth +30. Registered players bank every multiplayer point on the global leaderboard.
Ways to play
- Private rooms: create a room, share the 6-letter code or a one-tap invite link, race up to 10 players. Chat and emotes included.
- Race the world: the World tab lists open races anyone can join, and Quick match seats you in the best one or opens a fresh one for the world to find. Open races start themselves 30 seconds after a second racer arrives. Hosts control the room's visibility in the lobby: a private room is joinable only with its code, a public room is listed worldwide, and a separate switch decides whether spectators may watch.
- Solo sprint: one tap from the home screen starts a timed solo run. Solo points rank on their own leaderboard.
- Spectate (premium): public rooms can be watched live, colors only.
- Groups (premium): build a crew with its own leaderboard; members get pinged when a group race starts.
Premium, if you want chaos
A one-time premium unlock adds groups, spectator mode, cosmetic board skins, gold emotes, and distractors: harmless but very distracting effects (a quake, a letter storm, a stampede) you can drop on every rival's screen mid-race. They never block input or reveal letters; they just cost your rivals focus at the worst possible moment.
Quick tips
- Open with two vowel-heavy words that cover common consonants, then commit.
- In a race, a fast 4-guess solve usually beats a slow 3-guess solve. Watch the rival boards fill up.
- Keep an eye on the finish clock once the first player solves; points for 2nd and 3rd are still big.
